A Rookie's Ode to Draftfcb
By Jeremy Graham, Associate Copywriter, Draftfcb Chicago
For Chicago’s Town Hall meeting I was approached by Todd Tilford and Jon Flannery to writea song that embodied the culture of our office and poke harmless fun at some of our people. Having been with Chicago only a short time, I wrote a song that chronicles my time from my first day to the moment I presented the song.
I’ve been writing original songs since I was in high school. In the music world I go by Jeremiah Webb, and consider songwriting to be one of the strongest attributes in my creative arsenal. I wasn’t sure that my music and advertising worlds would ever collide, but the on the last day of my summer internship, I was asked to write a song for a campaign. I returned to Chicago the next week and preformed my song up in Whitespace. Everyone’s reaction was so encouraging; Todd hired me on the spot.
I believe the best part of writing any song is the opportunity to share it with people. Seeing someone respond with a positive attitude towards something I created is a really neat feeling. I want to thank everyone for their kind words and taking the time to talk with me during the party; particularly Howard Draft.
It was a tremendous thrill to play for such an attentive and engaged audience. I hope to have the chance again.
