Wimpy’s Meat-Loving Papa Keeps SA Smiling

Wimpy is flighting two new entertaining episodes in ‘The Chronicles of Papa’. The recently-launched campaign enhances Wimpy’s positioning as a casual dining destination offering big eat and value grill meals. Targeting consumers within the LSM 6-7 groupings, the two 30-second television commercials were conceived by FCB Joburg’s Executive Creative Director Jonathan Deeb, Creative Director Suhana Gordhan, Copywriter Thabang Manyelo and Art Director Tshepo Mosoeu. They feature Papa, the somewhat cheesy head-of-household who is firmly against meals that do not feature meat, to demonstrate the latest Wimpy offering; saucy ribs, a quarter chicken and chips for just R99.90. Whenever Papa hears plans to cook what he considers a meatless feast – in these two commercials ‘curry’ and ‘sushi’ – he distracts the family and whisks them off to Wimpy.
